Right now, we´ve only got one survey, but I´ll bet there will be more as we get under way.  Here´s Betsy Barnum´s introduction to her Community Assets survey form;

    Seward Northeast Triangle community survey

    Toward social integrity within Seward Northeast Triangle, block representatives would like to conduct a survey of the people in our seven blocks. The survey is designed to inventory skills, interests and ways we can work and play together and help each other in good times and also in difficult times, to develop and maintain community.

    The information from the survey will be used to help match skills with needs, and to develop such activities as youth mentoring, restorative justice, Eco-Teams, supper groups, cooperative work groups and locally-based entertainment opportunities. The survey is only for use in our neighborhood by those who live here. This information will also help us weave a stronger sense of local interdependence and mutual reliance in a world where interdependence is increasingly anonymous and global, and culture and economy are coming to us from somewhere else.

    Now seems like a good time to be intentional about weaving our connections and building community—the ability to help each other in good times and bad, to depend on each other and to have fun together. We can recapture the knowledge of our elders who learned to "do for themselves" before the global economy, and we can discover and share skills that will help us simplify our lives, live with less ecological impact and develop a feeling of mutual reliability.
