A Glimpse at Chapter 5. Blocks Applied to Networked Double Weave

Some 4-block double weave designs for 16 shaft looms are presented in chapter 5. Here is an example. The initial diagram shows the rectilinear form of a 4-block design.

In traditional double weave it can be easily modified by introducing any of the 254 transitional peg plans, shown here with diagonal lines, above or below the original dark blocks. Transitions in the threading from one block to the next can also be carried out.

And finally both transitions can be shown schematically in a single drawing.

A sequence of designs can give some indication of the very large number of possible designs that can be developed starting with the original traditional double weave design.
