Early spring 2000.  This is the wet rocky part where the butterflies hang out.

Late summer 2000, looking north from Highway 88

Summer 2002 -- 2nd summer after prairie planting.  See?  Prairie plants in there amongst the weeds.  Mowed 3 times this summer.

Summer 2003 -- west side of the valley, looking north.  Mowed this side twice this summer.

Fall 2003 -- burned part of the east side.   Mowed pretty big firebreaks (about 10 feet wide) and let them green up for about a month before we burned.  This is an action shot...

... and this is an "after" picture.  The top part burned a lot better than the bottom -- theories abound as to why.
